On Thursday night, 3 November, our Managing Director John Grout and Executive Director – Operations, Paul Sheather were in attendance at the DTC Defence Industry Awards 2022 in Adelaide where we were part of the award-winning Norsta collaboration for the Teaming Award.

Regarded as one of the Defence Teaming Centres (DTC) most prestigious and anticipated nights of the year, the annual event recognises and celebrates the defence industry and highlights the achievements of DTC members.

The teaming award acknowledges organisations who contribute to building the awareness of collaboration and teaming practices by sharing examples of best practice and their results, inspiring similar excellence in others; and identifies those who drive greater awareness and understanding of the benefits of collaboration in the defence sector.

A joint venture team comprising of NorshipTropical Reef Shipyard, Nova Systems and Secora; NORSTA Maritime is a collaboration of organisations bringing their respective expertise and working together as the Regional Maintenance Provider (RMP) North East Australia servicing the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet in Cairns.

This 100% Australian joint venture is reshaping naval sustainment through this innovative RMP model, while creating a pipeline of apprenticeships and opportunities in the region.

You might spot in the photo, that our MD John Grout is holding a couple of plush puppies, along with the award… In addition to the awards aspect of the evening, the event also raised $38,000 for the Seeing Differently OPK9 program. These funds will go towards the cost of training a puppy who will go on to become an assistance dog for veterans with PTSD.

John said “what a great evening and we offer our congratulations to all the award winners. We also want to thank our Norsta partners – it’s an honour to work with you and share in this acknowledgement of the power of teaming”.
